Where home and art merge as one

The New Manchester Flats were brought back to life in 2008 after sitting dormant in the industrial Richmond neighborhood of Manchester. The adaptive reuse of this Southern Stove Works factory was achieved with the use of historic and new market tax credits — despite the downturn in the economy at the time. The residential portions of the buildings feature a fitness center, gated dog park, a courtyard with modern water features, an outdoor pool, volleyball and bocce ball courts, a fire pit, and a community garden that offers “suburban amenities with urban sensibilities.”

Not only was New Manchester Flats built to EarthCraft Standards, it was also recognized as an innovative project by the National Housing & Rehabilitation Association, earning the 2011 Anderson Award for Excellence in Historic Rehabilitation.
